Breadcrumbs

The term breadcrumbs refers to the group of links, customarily in the page header, which displays the path that the user followed to reach the current page. For instance: Home > Los Angeles > Todays Deals > Dining, indicating that the user began on the Home page, chose “Los Angeles” from the menu, then clicked on “Todays Deals” in the sub-menu, and ultimately selected, “Dining.” The expression “breadcrumbs” comes from the fairytale Hansel and Gretel, in which the characters scattered a trail of breadcrumbs during a walk in the woods to mark their path.
